CERAMIC PLASTER
- HARD
- RESISTANT
- FLEXIBLE
- NON-COMBUSTIBLE
Its high resistance to fractures, its great hardness and its fine reproduction make it the ideal casting material for the creation of furniture and lighting, however fragile they may be.
Ceramic plaster, called alpha plaster, is made from fired and finely ground alpha gypsum to obtain cast materials of excellent precision and great hardness.
It is used for casting sculptures or ornaments in interior design, but also in the industrial and medical sectors. The structure of the cast material is similar to that of porcelain.
Plaster can be sculpted, modeled, chiseled and molded: it allows great freedom of expression.
PLASTER AND ARCHITECTURE
AN IDEAL MATERIAL
FIREPROOF : Plaster facades had their heyday at the end of the 17th century: in 1666, London burned down because the old town was built of wood, and on August 18, 1667, Louis XIV ordered the timber-framed walls to be covered with slats, nails, and plaster to resist the fire. Paris was covered in plaster, and for two centuries, the qualities of this material were praised.
EROSION RESISTANT: A properly plastered facade, installed by an experienced mason, can last for decades . Old plaster facades can even last for centuries.
FLEXIBLE: Plaster is known for its great flexibility in adapting to the movements of masonry or wood . As proof, it was not only exterior or interior plasterwork that was made of plaster, but often the mortar of masonry, staircases, chimneys, partitions and decorations.
WATER RESISTANT: Water-saturated plaster moves little . Foundations made of plaster have been found without the building having suffered. The greatest danger to plaster is the continuous runoff of water on the surface, which gradually carries away its substance and alters it. Its resistance can also decrease if it is subjected to constant humidity or soaked in water for a long time.
